Who We Are
San-A-Can Inc. is a full service environmentally safe trash can cleaning and sanitation company. We pride ourselves on providing quality service at an affordable price. We are proud to be able to provide a service that is not only needed by our clients but our local eco system as well. Our trucks carry only Eco Friendly solutions and are completely self contained from "grey water" run off. This means that no harmful contaminated water will exit the truck or make its way into our storm drains and waterways.
At San-A-Can we recognize the need for proper trash can cleaning. We have trash cans too and they can get nasty!
Why We Do It
Dirty garbage cans are breeding ground for harmful bacteria and disease. Not to mention flies, maggots and neighborhood critters. Lets take a look at just some of the everyday causes that make our bins so gross.
From prep to cook to clean, our food waste ultimately makes its way into the trash can. Food waste, especially raw meats, thrown away from prepping meals pose great risk of microbial pathogens. It's not only raw food that is hazardous. All food waste at temps above 45 degrees will breed bacteria. Some of these disease carrying pathogens commonly found on foods include Escherichia coli (E coli), Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) and different varieties of Salmonella.
We all have situations in our lives which will create a breeding grounds for bacteria and disease. Bloodbourne pathogens from bandages and femine products are just some examples how these diseases form and spread. From diapers to band aids, there's no getting around it. We all get dirty trash cans.
Our beloved pets are a major contributor to the spread of many types of bacteria, viruses and parasites. These viruses can easily go from trash bin to body to home. Not to mention the smell and parasites are like a bed and breakfast for airborne insects and animals to feed on and thrive in our bins. If there are flies, there will be larvae: "maggots"!
There are many causes to the nastiness of our trash cans and we at San-A-Can want to do our part to help provide a safer more pleasant living environment for you and your loved ones.
About Us
Our story at San-A-Can started like many others. We recognized a problem and set out to find a solution for it!
It all began in the summer of 2015, when we were out in our garage with the kids and were complaining about the flies everywhere. We knew the flies were around because of our trash cans. Our founder Jacob said that he wished that there was someone he could hire to clean his trash cans. We all talked about how much of a pain it is to clean those garbage cans. They are big, deep, and NASTY! There really is no good way to clean them!
That's when it all started. We did some research and found that there are people that clean trash cans (or rubbish bins as they are called in the UK), just not anywhere near us. We found out that this industry has been around for over 20 years! As it turns out, areas throughout Europe and Asia have been providing this service for quite some time. In fact, it is now a municipal service provided along with trash pickup in many cities around the globe, including parts of the U.S.
We were amazed to find that areas much less progressive than ours were being provided this service...but not us in Chicagoland! We knew we had to do something about this and with that San-A-Can was born.

Our Mission
Here at San-A-Can, our goal is to provide a more efficient and environmentally safe process for cleaning out your garbage cans, recycling and compost bins.
We see an opportunity to not only help out our neighbors by providing a needed service but also our local eco systems. Our bin cleaning process uses, on average, over 80% less of the water needed to manually clean one bin. We are also proud to use only Green Seal certified products, which are approved by the EPA.
We know that we all need to try and do our part to protect and preserve our natural resources. All of the water, bacteria and debris spent in the cleaning process is kept contained inside our trucks and stored in separate holding tanks until disposed of properly at our local water treatment centers or down approved sanitary drains. Never into our storm drains or waterways.
We know that our trash cans are not the only things that can get filthy over time. So we set out to make our trucks as versatile as possible. We at San-A-Can are also able to provide pressure washing and surface cleaning for all your cleaning and prepping needs.
